Position Overview:


The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) Inpatient plays a crucial role in delivering both direct and indirect patient care under the supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN).

Licensure/Certification Requirements:

Mandatory:
Must hold a valid LPN license in the State of Tennessee. IV certification to be obtained within seven months of employment. BLS certification must be completed prior to unit assignment and maintained thereafter. Must achieve Tennessee Registered Nurse (RN) licensure within three years of the start date.

Department Summary:


The LPN will work across various medical/surgical units or specialized areas based on staffing requirements. Assignments may change daily.

Contributes to nursing assessments by accurately collecting, reporting, and documenting both objective and subjective patient data in a timely manner.

Notifies relevant nursing team members and medical staff of any changes in patient condition. Gathers and records pertinent information regarding the patient's status. Collaborates with the healthcare team in the ongoing evaluation of the patient, including responses to nursing interventions. Participates in updates to the patient care plan as necessary. Assists in the administration and delivery of medications, treatments, and other patient care tasks as prescribed by the physician.

The individual must demonstrate the necessary knowledge and skills to provide age-appropriate care for patients on their assigned unit.

They must exhibit an understanding of growth and development principles across the lifespan and possess the ability to assess data reflective of the patient's condition.

Additionally, they must be capable of interpreting relevant information to identify each patient's requirements concerning their age-specific needs.

The employee is also responsible for delivering care in accordance with the nursing unit's established policies and procedures.
