Job Summary

GAI Consultants is seeking a highly skilled Civil Engineer to join our Power Business Unit's Civil and Environmental Engineering Business Sector. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for planning, designing, and facilitating civil engineer project design tasks, including site grading and drainage design, access road design, erosion and sediment pollution control design, stormwater management design, report preparation, and permitting.

Key Responsibilities
  • Plan, design, and facilitate civil engineer project design tasks, including site grading and drainage design, access road design, erosion and sediment pollution control design, stormwater management design, report preparation, and permitting.
  • Perform technical and feasibility studies, collaborating with other professionals and discussing requirements with team members.
  • Use computer programs to develop detailed designs, ensuring that work products meet client, environmental, and safety requirements.
  • Perform work with minimal guidance and supervision, handling complex issues and referring only the most complex issues to more experienced staff.
  • Mentor, guide, and check the work of less experienced staff, possessing strong knowledge of civil engineering design tasks and a positive attitude.
  • Strong working knowledge of AutoCAD Civil 3D and analysis modules, performing moderate to complex civil design tasks while delegating more routine tasks to staff with less experience.
  • Travel to other offices, meet with clients, and attend project-specific meetings (occasional local/regional travel expected to be 5%-10% of the time).
Requirements
  • 8+ years of experience in civil engineering, with a strong background in planning, designing, and facilitating civil engineer project design tasks.
  • B.S. or M.S. in Engineering, with a focus on civil engineering.
  • Professional Engineer (P.E.) License, reciprocity in multiple states.
  • Experience with GIS, AutoCAD Civil 3D, HY-8, Pondpack, Hydraflow, Primavera P6, Microsoft Project, and other related engineering software.
  • Proficiency in Civil Site Design, NPDES Permitting requirements, and construction practices.
