About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Structural Engineer to join our team at Sargent & Lundy. As a key member of our engineering and design team, you will be responsible for designing and upgrading electrical substations, working closely with clients to ensure technical information is communicated effectively.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform structural analysis and detailed design of steel frames, connections, concrete members, equipment, and foundations.
  • Develop integrated structural designs and perform supporting calculations for planned work.
  • Communicate technical information to clients and peers, and prepare technical specifications for structural materials.
  • Perform independent reviews of work performed by others, including calculations and drawing preparation.
  • Coordinate and provide guidance to other engineers, project managers, client personnel, and suppliers to ensure complete and timely design.
Requirements
  • BSCE or MSCE from an ABET Engineering Accreditation Commission-approved program with a strong academic background in behavior of materials, structural analysis, structural steel design, and reinforced concrete design.
  • Five or more years of experience as a practicing structural engineer, preferably as a member of a project team working on the design and upgrade of electrical substations.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with clients and peers, and perform occasional walk-downs and visits to client sites.
  • Experience in writing and providing support documentation for structural engineering calculations, and proficiency with design codes and standards such as IBC, ASCE 7, AISC, and ACI 318.
