The City of Chicago is seeking a highly skilled Aviation Safety Director to join our team. As a key member of our safety management team, you will be responsible for ensuring the safety of airport operations, construction projects, and employees.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement safety programs and policies to mitigate risks and ensure compliance with regulations.
- Conduct site inspections and investigations to identify safety hazards and develop corrective actions.
- Collaborate with local and federal agencies to integrate safety practices into daily work activities.
- Supervise and train subordinate staff on safety procedures and protocols.
- Develop and recommend new and modified safety policies and procedures.
- Conduct advanced investigations and communicate findings to legal counsel.
- Participate in safety committees and emergency management drills and exercises.
Requirements:
- Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's degree in Safety Management, Aviation Management, or a related field.
- Three years of work experience in developing and managing safety programs, with one year in a supervisory role.
- Valid State of Illinois Driver's License and basic airfield driving certification (Yellow Stripe) within 90 days of hire.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Previous experience in developing and managing safety programs.
- Previous experience in managing construction safety projects in accordance with 1926 OSHA Regulations.
- Level of education completed in Occupational Health and Safety or a related field.
