Position Overview

Peraton is seeking an experienced Information System Security Specialist (RMF) to support our cybersecurity initiatives.

This role involves providing engineering expertise for Cyber Situational Awareness (SA), Cyber Command and Control (C2), Mission Assurance, and Homeland Defense. The specialist will engage in Agile software engineering within a Development, Security, and Operations (DevSecOps) framework, as well as perform Cloud architectural design and administration tasks, alongside cybersecurity and Risk Management Framework (RMF) support.

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver technical and programmatic Information Assurance Services to both internal and external stakeholders, ensuring robust network and information security systems.
  • Design, develop, and implement security protocols within business processes, creating documentation based on customer interactions and established guidelines such as RMF.
  • Prepare comprehensive test plans and provide assessment and authorization (A&A) support for security and contingency planning.
  • Conduct in-depth risk and vulnerability assessments, analyzing policies against Federal regulations and offering recommendations for compliance.
  • Develop and finalize system security and contingency plans, recommending enhancements to address security weaknesses.
  • Integrate and test computer and network security tools, securing system configurations and evaluating compliance through systematic scans.
  • Perform security program audits, devising strategies to mitigate identified risks while ensuring adherence to privacy and risk management requirements.
  • Support the development and implementation of security architectures that align with evolving security needs.
  • Evaluate and enhance security policies and tools, assisting in computer incident investigations.
  • Conduct vulnerability assessments and formulate risk mitigation strategies.
  • Fulfill COMSEC responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience with a BS/BA, or 3 years with an MS/MA; relevant experience may substitute for a Bachelor's degree.
  • At least three (3) years of experience in executing Risk Management Framework activities.
  • Proven experience conducting STIG assessments and utilizing SCAP benchmarks.
  • Experience performing vulnerability assessments with the Assured Compliance Assessment Solution tool.
  • Familiarity with STIG and eMASS.
  • Experience in creating Plans of Actions and Milestones (POA&M) entries.
  • Experience in completing RMF Step 5 authorizations in the capacity of Information System Security Engineer (ISSE).
  • Ability to communicate risk reduction recommendations effectively to stakeholders.
  • IAT Level II certification required.
  • Minimum certification as 461 (or equivalent) at the Intermediate level per DoDD, or successor.
  • Active Top Secret clearance with the ability to obtain SCI access.

Salary Range

$86,000 - $138,000, reflecting the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other relevant factors.
