Cafeteria Assistant

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Cafeteria Assistant to join our team at Lowndes County Schools. As a Cafeteria Assistant, you will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of our school nutrition program.

The Cafeteria Assistant will be responsible for assisting with food preparation, serving, and cleaning duties in the cafeteria. This includes following recipes to prepare food, conserving nutrients when preparing and cooking, and following sanitation and safety procedures.

• Assist with food preparation, including measuring ingredients, cooking, and serving food
• Follow sanitation and safety procedures to ensure a clean and safe work environment
• Monitor temperature of food on serving lines to ensure that no food approaches danger zone temperatures
• Portion food to meet nutritional needs of students and to fulfill regulations for fund reimbursement
• Implement a clean-up routine to maintain a sanitary and attractive work place
• Employ efficient work habits to increase productivity and complete tasks within allotted time

• High school diploma or GED
• Preferred that applicant have demonstrated knowledge of best practices in school nutrition or restaurant experience
• Ability to read, write, and follow recipe instructions
• Ability to lift equipment and supplies (up to 25 pounds)
• Dependable transportation
• Available for varying shifts from 6:00AM - 2:00PM
• Must report to work in appropriate work attire

The employee will regularly be required to stand, walk, use hands and fingers, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms. The employee will frequently be required to stoop, reach, climb on a ladder, or balance.

The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds or more of equipment and products.
