We are currently seeking a Linux Systems Engineer - Expert to join our team. This position will be located onsite primarily at a customer facility in Herndon, VA, and may require occasional local site visits in the Northern Virginia area.

The successful candidate will have experience with Linux, Ruby, and Python, and will be responsible for engineering and implementation of Linux Platform-as-a-Service. They will also be responsible for automation of Linux service delivery, system requirements capture, analysis, decomposition, and design.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in systems engineering, with experience in analysis, design, development, deployment, and lifecycle support for innovative hardware systems and applications. They will also have knowledge of security development operations (SecDevOps) and cloud design, implementation, and configuration.

The candidate will be responsible for ensuring developed systems comply with the enterprise technical architecture and will assist in keeping senior management apprised of project or program status. They will also assist project and program teams in preparing for program management reviews.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Engineering and implementation of Linux Platform-as-a-Service
  • Automation of Linux service delivery
  • System requirements capture, analysis, decomposition, and design
  • Analysis, design, development, deployment, and lifecycle support for innovative hardware systems and applications
  • Requirements generation, and independent verification and validation tools
  • Identification of technical trends in information technology, awareness on-going IT projects, and business unit requirements
  • Applying project management model (e.g. Agile, Spiral, Waterfall) for a given development effort
  • Model Based System Engineering principles
  • Enterprise Architecture frameworks and principles
  • Systems Engineering Lifecycle (SELC) support
  • Use of Digital Twin to enable virtual designs

Requirements:

  • Active TS/SCI + Full Scope Poly U.S. Government Security
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical discipline
  • 11-15 years of relevant professional work experience
  • Ability to maintain discretion and confidentiality
  • Strong interpersonal skills, especially the ability to network and establish professional relationships
  • Ability to prioritize, demonstrated strong organizational skills, and ability to meet or exceed deadlines

Work Environment:

The position will require frequent sitting, standing, and/or mobility within an office setting. Employee must be able to use hands to complete work at a workstation/computer, be able to reach, type and manipulate with hands, fingers, and arms; lift and/or move up to 20 pounds; talk, see and hear.

The work environment will be a professional office environment with moderate stress and noise levels. The position requires employee to effectively use a computer, potentially for long periods of time, and to accommodate potentially frequent interruptions.

Schedule:

Business core hours are Monday through Friday, from 09:30 to 14:30 ET. Standard work hours may vary for this position based upon contract requirements.
