Radiology Technologist Per Diem Job Description

Mass General Brigham is seeking a skilled Radiology Technologist to join our team on a per diem basis. As a Radiology Technologist, you will be responsible for performing a variety of patient contact duties related to the operations of radiologic equipment to make clinical diagnostic X-ray images as directed by a physician.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conducts equipment system warm-up and quality assurance procedures according to established guidelines to ensure a safe and effective equipment operation.
  • Correctly identifies the patient by checking patients identification band against requisition prior to the start of procedure.
  • Correctly interprets exam requests making sure history conforms to exam requested.
  • Positions and instructs patients regarding the procedures. Must be cognizant of patient's condition at all times.
  • Selects proper exposure factors for procedure.
  • Arranges, attaches or adjusts immobilization and supportive devices to obtain the desired radiographic positions and to prevent patients from moving and lessen patients discomfort.
  • Adjusts lead shield(s) and collimates to protect unaffected parts of the body from exposure to radiation. Directs personnel to safe area before exposure.
  • Acquires and maintains knowledge of related topics to include, but not limited to radiation safety, universal precaution, disposal of contaminated material, proper handling of requisitions (both before and after procedure), interpersonal skills, communications and dealing with difficult situations, etc.
  • Maintains knowledge of the location of emergency equipment and the procedure necessary to alert the code team.
  • Maintains a high level of quality assurance for finished radiographs, safe and clean working environment.
  • Maintains a high standard of professionalism at all times.
Requirements:
  • Valid license to practice as a radiologic technologist in the state of Massachusetts required.
  • Must be certified by the ARRT.
  • Successful completion of an accredited school of Radiologic Technology.
  • No prior experience required.
