Position Overview
We are seeking a dedicated culinary professional who embodies a service-oriented mindset. The role involves overseeing culinary operations in a newly established facility focused on senior living.

Key Responsibilities:

- Manage food preparation and meal service processes.
- Oversee ordering and food production activities.
- Develop and implement cooking schedules to align with meal timings.
- Prepare, season, cook, and serve meals while adhering to portion control standards.
- Prepare nutritious snacks for residents as directed by the Dietary Manager.
- Collaborate creatively with Dining Management on special events and menu planning.
- Ensure food safety by monitoring temperatures of hot and cold foods during preparation and service.
- In the absence of the Dietary Manager, inspect food products and supplies upon delivery, supervising storage practices.
- Determine food and supply requirements for daily menus.
- Communicate any needs for food, supplies, or equipment to the Dietary Manager, and report any equipment malfunctions or safety concerns.
- Supervise dietary staff in the absence of the Dietary Manager.
- Maintain cleanliness of equipment and work areas as directed.
- Stay informed about Federal, State, and facility regulations and policies.
- Participate in educational programs and training sessions.
- Adhere to safety protocols while performing all duties.
- Understand and follow emergency procedures as outlined in the facility's fire and disaster plans.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by the Dietary Manager.
- Strong customer service orientation.
- Basic knowledge of food preparation techniques.
- Understanding of sanitation and safety practices.
- Attention to detail.
- Effective time management skills.
- Ability to mentor and guide team members.
- Proven experience in coaching and training within a kitchen environment.
- Capability to lead peers effectively.
This role requires continuous standing and walking throughout the workday, as well as the ability to reach, stoop, bend, lift, carry, and handle various food products and kitchen equipment. Visual acuity is necessary for assessing food quality and safety. Must be able to work with cleaning agents and chemicals. The position involves exposure to varying temperatures and humidity levels, particularly in refrigerated areas and near cooking equipment. The ability to lift and carry weights ranging from 50 to 75 pounds is essential.
Work Schedule:
This is an hourly position, with a schedule that may include days, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
Qualifications:
Required:
- Proficiency in reading, writing, and speaking English.
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred; candidates with training in large-scale cooking and therapeutic diets are prioritized. A minimum of one year of food service experience in a healthcare setting is preferred, along with knowledge of large-scale food preparation and portion control.
- Certification in Serve Safe.
Shifts may vary, including every other weekend. Compensation ranges from $20 to $23 per hour.
