Position Overview

This role presents an exceptional opportunity to become part of one of the leading knowledge providers and contribute to the Group Finance team.

The Group Finance department consolidates financial data from various divisions and communicates these results to the Executive Management Team (EMT) and other Divisional Finance teams situated globally (Asia Pacific, America, Middle East, UK, and Europe).

The financial information generated is crucial for both internal and external reporting, including Management reports, Annual Reports, Investor communications, Budgeting, Planning, and Forecasting.

The provision of financial data is facilitated by SAP Financial Consolidation, a specialized system designed for financial consolidation, ensuring a single reliable source of information.

Group Finance is also enhancing other third-party reporting solutions to improve Data Visualization across all organizational levels, from monthly Board reports to Event reporting.

Within Group Finance, there are various sub-teams, including Group Financial Accounting (GFA), Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A), Tax, and Group Financial Reporting Systems (GFRS), along with other group functions.

This role is situated within the Group Financial Reporting Systems team, which plays a crucial role in supporting the organization globally while enabling other Group Finance departments to achieve their specific objectives.

GFRS is tasked with managing complex data to generate insights that empower individuals to maximize commercial value. This is achieved through the development of precise standard datasets utilizing top-tier Consolidation and Analytical tools.

The successful candidate will serve as the primary liaison within the US, assisting both business and Shared Service Centre users in their daily interactions with Group Financial Systems.

The timely and efficient consolidation of Group data, along with the production of reports and other outputs, is a vital aspect of GFRS operations.

The GFRS team is integral to the success of these activities, and the individual will be expected to contribute to the evolution of this role.

More specifically, the Group Finance Systems Accountant will support the business, SSC, and Group Finance, with responsibilities including:

  • Acting as the primary contact in the US region to coordinate between the Group team in the UK and business and SSC contacts within the region.
  • Providing day-to-day support, assistance, and training for system users.
  • Ensuring the timely collection and reporting of data meets established high standards.
  • Empowering Group Finance and the broader business to execute strategic plans and enhance performance through comprehensive data and analytical tools.
  • Assisting the GFRS team with Group Consolidation, reporting, and system integration tools.
  • Maintaining and managing the data architecture design to ensure robust management information and a single version of the truth.
  • Contributing to the development of change control and support frameworks, ensuring compliance with internal and external policies and standards.
  • Participating in the ongoing development of SAP-FC and reporting tools, including designing changes in data models, system functionality, and user acceptance testing.
  • Supporting the production and delivery of necessary reports to FP&A and divisional accounting teams, adhering to Group reporting cycles.
  • Challenging existing processes and driving continuous improvement within the group.
  • Becoming an expert in all areas of consolidation and analytics.

Qualifications

Ideal candidates will demonstrate the following skills and attributes:

  • 2-4 years of experience in Systems Accounting preferred.
  • Strong systems analyst skills with a solid understanding of database design and structures.
  • Practical experience in financial reporting and accounting principles.
  • Expertise in handling large, complex datasets.
