Position Overview:
The City of Gilroy is actively seeking qualified candidates for the role of Lateral Police Officer. This position is essential in maintaining law and order within our community, ensuring the safety and security of our residents.

Compensation Package:
Potential earnings range from $128,580 to $159,858, including:
- Holiday Pay: 7.01%
- Bilingual Pay: 5%
- Educational Incentives (up to): 7.5%
- Annual Uniform Allowance: $1,400
- Base Annual Salary: $106,418 - $132,590

Key Responsibilities:
As a Lateral Police Officer, you will:
1. Conduct mobile patrols or maintain a fixed post to deter crime and enforce traffic regulations.
2. Investigate incidents, prepare detailed reports on accidents, offenses, and property damage.
3. Make arrests and take appropriate law enforcement actions.
4. Respond to dispatch calls and assist in controlling traffic during emergencies.
5. Engage with community members and provide support in various situations.
6. Participate in specialized functions and training programs as assigned.

Qualifications:
To be considered for this position, candidates must:
- Hold a valid P.O.S.T. Basic Certificate.
- Be at least 21 years of age.
- Successfully pass a physical agility test and meet medical standards.
- Undergo a comprehensive background investigation, including a polygraph examination.
- Maintain a valid California driver's license.
- Preferably be bilingual (English/Spanish) and a non-tobacco user.
