Job Title: Licensed Veterinary Technician - Neurology

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Licensed Veterinary Technician to join our Neurology team at the Animal Medical Center of Seattle, WA. As a key member of our team, you will play a vital role in supporting our veterinary neurologist in delivering exceptional care to animals with neurological disorders.

Responsibilities:
  • Monitor patients with neurological conditions and assist in various diagnostic procedures, including MRI and CT scans.
  • Administer treatments and medications, educate pet owners about their animals' conditions, treatment options, and home care.
  • Work closely with veterinarians, other veterinary technicians, and support staff to provide comprehensive care.
  • Restrains and lifts animals during examinations and treatments.
  • Prepare patients for surgery and monitor anesthesia.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed records of anesthesia procedures, drug administration, and vital sign monitoring.
  • Correctly calculate drug dosages and administer drugs as directed by staff DVM.
  • Anticipate patient discomfort and stress and take all necessary precautions to ensure patient comfort.
  • Immediately alert staff DVM to a change in patient condition.
  • Take steps to maintain patient comfort through a clean and comfortable environment.
  • Administer high-quality patient care through timely monitoring and correctly perform treatments as directed by staff neurologist.
  • Enter client charges as required during treatments/procedures.
  • Take radiographs as requested by attending neurologist and comply with state and hospital regulations regarding radiology safety.
  • Perform non-subjective laboratory work when required, including proficiency in the use of laboratory equipment.
  • Provide outstanding customer service when triaging, gathering patient information, and relevant history.
  • Answer technical calls of clients/perspective clients as required and advise callers and clients on the cost of examination, financial policies, and driving directions.
  • Help keep clients up to date on their pet's status.
  • Help maintain a clean and fully stocked working environment for the veterinary team.
  • Attend CE courses/webinars or hands-on training as requested by the Training Specialist or Manager.
  • Regularly attend staff meetings and one-on-one meetings.
  • Share holiday coverage and on-call schedule.
  • Report any concerns, problems, or staffing problems to manager.
Requirements:
  • AA degree or BA/BS degree from an accredited veterinary technician program.
  • Minimum of two years of experience in a veterinary hospital setting.
  • Experience in a specialty practice setting preferred, with experience in neurology preferred.
  • Basic reading, writing, and arithmetic skills required.

  • Compensation is based on experience and skill level, with a range of $30-$40/hour.
