About the Role

Trellis Supportive Care is seeking a compassionate and dedicated Hospice Physician to join our Medical Staff Services Team in North Carolina. As a leading not-for-profit hospice organization, we provide exceptional end-of-life care to individuals and their families.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide direct medical care to patients, ensuring they receive appropriate measures to control uncomfortable symptoms.
  • Act as an integral part of the interdisciplinary team, attending IDT meetings and guiding the work of direct clinical services staff.
  • Certify patients for hospice admission and re-certify as necessary for continuation of the Medicare Hospice Benefit.
  • Assure physician representation and participation in patient care planning.
  • Consult with patients' primary care physicians regarding eligibility for hospice care and pain/symptom management.
  • Participate in the organization-wide Quality Assessment and Performance Improvement (QAPI) Plan.
  • Maintain current knowledge of the latest research and trends in hospice care and pain/symptom management.
Requirements
  • Licensed to practice medicine in North Carolina (MD or DO).
  • Minimum of two years' experience in medical practice or recent completion of a hospice and palliative medicine fellowship.
  • Hospice experience required.
  • Board certified in own specialty area.
  • Board certified in hospice and palliative medicine strongly preferred.
