Job Title: Electrical System Controller

Join Austin Energy, a leading utility company, as an Electrical System Controller. In this critical role, you will be responsible for monitoring the electric utility grid, dispatching field crews, and resolving customer outages.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Monitor the electric utility grid to identify potential issues and dispatch field crews to resolve outages.
  • Operate substation switching equipment by remote control to ensure efficient and safe power distribution.
  • Collaborate with other divisions and sections to coordinate routine activities and resolve system problems.
  • Provide excellent customer service by responding to customer complaints and resolving issues in a timely manner.
Requirements:
  • Graduation from an accredited high school or equivalent, plus two years of experience in a field related to electric generation, distribution, substation, and construction tasks.
  • Associates Degree focused on GIS, Power, and Computer Technology or other related field may substitute for one year of experience.
  • Must obtain NERC Operator's certification within two years.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Knowledge of Electric Utility Transmission and Distribution system.
  • Knowledge of NERC reliability standards.
  • NERC Transmission Operator's or Reliability Coordinators certification or the ability to obtain within six months of hire.
Work Environment:

This position requires working irregular schedules, including evenings, weekends, and holidays. You must be willing and available to work any hours/days as necessary.
