Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Medical Assistant Non-Certified to join our team at MyMichigan Health. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional patient care and supporting our providers in delivering high-quality medical services.

Responsibilities
  • Triage patient calls and schedule urgent/emergent add-ons, ensuring timely and efficient care.
  • Support and direct patients for consults and/or testing, as well as insurance pre-certification and documentation.
  • Perform routine pre-examination procedures, including vital signs, and record objective and subjective data concerning presenting conditions.
  • Update and maintain accurate patient records, including orders reconciliation, secure messaging, and other assigned tasks.
  • Assist providers with examinations and procedures, ensuring a smooth and efficient workflow.
  • Prepare and clean patient areas, set up equipment, and dispose of contaminated supplies and sterilize medical instruments.
Requirements
  • Basic knowledge of specialty and/or primary care, with the ability to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with patients, providers, and other healthcare team members.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and ensure patient rights in accordance with HIPAA guidelines.
  • Knowledge of medical office policies, practices, and procedures, as normally acquired through three to five years of working in the healthcare system or similar setting.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Certification as a Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) through American Medical Technologist (AMT), Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) through American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA), or equivalent Medical Assistant Credential.
  • Previous experience in a physician clinic setting, with a strong understanding of medical office procedures and protocols.
Working Conditions

This role requires the ability to work in a fast-paced environment, with frequent exposure to stressful situations, including those involving public contact, trauma, grief, and death. The successful candidate must be able to move freely about the facility, with or without an assisted device, and perform the functions of the job as outlined in the job description.
