Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Police Officer to join our team at Central Connecticut State University. This is a full-time position that requires a strong commitment to public service and a passion for making a positive impact in our community.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide crowd control and security services at university events and activities
  • Monitor designated areas to prevent theft, trespass, vandalism, and other security breaches
  • Give directions and routine information to the public
  • Participate in evacuation activities in the event of an emergency
  • Operate firefighting apparatus as needed
  • Conduct cruiser or foot patrols to maintain a visible presence on campus
  • Assess situations and make timely and appropriate decisions to ensure public safety
  • Respond to emergency situations and provide first aid or CPR as needed
  • Collaborate with other law enforcement agencies to investigate and prevent crime
  • Perform related duties as required
Requirements
  • Certification as a law enforcement officer in the State of Connecticut
  • Valid motor vehicle operator's license
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays
  • Ability to lift and move heavy objects, and to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience working in a higher education environment
  • Experience with computer software, including Microsoft Suite
  • Attention to detail and accuracy
  • Certified Field Training Officer
  • Certified Emergency Medical Responder
Working Conditions

Incumbents in this class may be exposed to unpleasant and/or dangerous situations, uncomfortable weather conditions, and/or confinement within a vehicle for prolonged periods.
