Principal Quality Engineer

Northrop Grumman is seeking a highly skilled Principal Quality Engineer to join our team in Palmdale, CA. As a key member of our engineering team, you will be responsible for implementing Mission Assurance principles across the program to ensure compliance with contractual, regulatory, and company requirements.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Coordinate and implement all engineering activities to ensure individual IPT plans are sufficient in quality, completeness, and detail.
  • Advocate and implement continuous improvement opportunities to increase the efficiency and effectiveness of company processes.
  • Investigate quality problems, issues, and failures through root cause analysis and corrective action implementation.
  • Interact with internal and external customers, as well as all levels of employees, to ensure effective communication and collaboration.
Requirements:
  • BS degree in Engineering (electrical, mechanical, systems, aerospace) with 5 years experience, MS degree with 3 years experience, or PhD with 0 years experience.
  • Strong understanding and broad application of engineering systems, and DoD Mil specs and standards.
  • Demonstrated ability to work without oversight and in a multi-discipline team environment, providing insight and solutions to complicated issues both technical and procedural.
  • Extensive experience with leading process improvement projects.
  • Experience with Root Cause Corrective Action.
  • Active US DoD Secret security clearance (ability to obtain Top Secret) and ability to obtain program access.
  • Active Passport.
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally 25% of the time.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • MS in Engineering (electrical, mechanical, systems, aerospace) or Master's in Business Administration with BS in Engineering.
  • Experience with AS9100/ISO9001 Quality Management Systems.
  • Trained and experienced in performing Root Cause Corrective Action.
  • Experience or strong understanding of system engineering principles, disciplines, and tools.
  • Active Top Secret Security Clearance with program access.
