Physician - Primary Care Specialist

Job Summary:
APLA Health is seeking a highly skilled Physician to join our team at the Michael Gottlieb Health Center in West Hollywood, CA. As a Primary Care Specialist, you will provide high-quality individual patient care with an emphasis on disease prevention and promotion of health equity.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct histories and physical exams on patients
- Establish treatment plans, administer, prescribe, or recommend medications and other therapeutic interventions
- Educate clients and/or partners about preventive care, medical issues, and use of prescribed medical treatments and/or medications
- Order, interpret, and evaluate diagnostic tests to identify and assess patient's clinical problems and health care needs
- Document gathered information in the medical record and complete charting within 48 hours of each clinical encounter
- Provide direct medical care for HIV-positive patients
- Apply APLA Health PrEP and PEP protocols for qualified patients
- Perform routine STD microscopic diagnostic tests, order other diagnostic tests for STDs, draw blood and collect other biological specimens, administer questionnaires and review data collection forms and medical records for completeness and accuracy
- Counsel and educate clients regarding STDs and HIV risk reduction, and HIV pre and post exposure prevention services
- Participate in chart review and quality assurance activities as part of APLA Health Quality Management Program
- Refer patients to specialists and to relevant patient care components as established departmental policies, procedures, and objectives
Requirements:
- Possession of a Doctor of Medicine (M.D.) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (D.O.) Degree and a valid license to practice medicine issued by the California Medical Board with no pending or previous disciplinary action from any state licensing entity
- Must have board certification or eligibility in a primary care specialty (Internal Medicine or Family Medicine); current DEA license; and BCLS certification
- Clinical experience in a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) a plus
- Experience in medical administration, utilization review and quality management
- Experience working with electronic health records, preferably eClinicalWorks, required
- Must be eligible to participate in Medicare, Medi-Cal, F-PACT and other federal health programs
- Provider must possess a Unique Provider Identification Number (UPIN)
Working Conditions/Physical Requirements:
This position requires intermittent physical activity including walking, standing, sitting, reaching, stooping, bending, and light lifting. There will be exposure to potentially infectious agents; personal protective equipment will be provided. Universal precautions must be followed.
This position requires daily use of a personal computer and requires entering, viewing and revising text and graphics on the computer terminal. Some local travel/ driving required.
Special Requirements:
Must possess a valid California driver's license; proof of auto liability insurance; and have the use of a personal vehicle for work-related purposes.
COVID-19 and Booster or Medical/ Religious Exemption required.
