We are currently seeking a 3rd Shift Machinery Maintenance Specialist.
As a Machinery Maintenance Specialist, your responsibilities will include: Conducting routine and emergency maintenance on all machinery and equipment, diagnosing issues or potential problems, and performing necessary repairs. You will also execute Preventative Maintenance (PM) tasks to enhance the longevity of equipment.
You will assist fellow maintenance personnel and serve as a resource for engineering and management teams.
Regular hours: Tuesday to Friday (4x10) from 7 pm (Monday night) to 6 am (Friday morning)
Overtime: Mondays (Sunday night) from 9 pm to 6 am as required
Training Shift: 1st Shift for approximately 4-6 weeks or longer if necessary, with the Shift Premium applicable during training.
Major Responsibilities- Diagnose each situation, determine the appropriate course of action, and execute repairs or updates on machinery and equipment.
- Install, remove, fabricate, alter, and rebuild machinery/equipment to achieve desired outcomes and comply with all regulatory requirements.
- Plan, layout, and fabricate parts and machinery, applying a high degree of skill and extensive knowledge of machine repair. Create and build from original concepts in the absence of design specifications.
- Execute all processes through critical bench and machine operations. Construct, alter, repair, and retrofit intricately designed tools, fixtures, gauges, machine attachments, and mechanisms, ensuring proper fit, alignment, calibration, adjustment, assembly, and completion of work.
- Provide project leadership on significant installations or revisions of machinery and equipment across various facilities.
- Regularly communicate with suppliers or manufacturers regarding part information, repair issues, improvements, and shipping instructions.
- Mentor apprentices.
- Create and complete work requests and orders, source parts from the tool crib, and maintain documentation of equipment; complete all necessary paperwork.
EDUCATION
- Completion of a four-year apprentice program or equivalent (equivalent is six years of machine repair experience or four years of military mechanical repair experience).
- Journeyman Machine Repair, Department of Labor Card preferred.
WORK REQUIREMENTS & EXPERIENCE
- Ability to obtain and maintain powered industrial truck certification.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a valid driver’s license.
ENVIRONMENTAL & PHYSICAL DEMANDS
- Large machinery and equipment utilized in work areas. Potential for cuts, scrapes, or bruises.
- Moderate exposure to dust, noise, solvents, heat, paint, and lubricants. Possible exposure to glue, solvent, heat, paint, fiberglass, and denatured alcohol.
- Constant mental and visual alertness required to avoid potential serious injury to self and others in all work groups.
- Eye protection required; hearing protection may be necessary.
- Ability to move and lift materials and/or products weighing up to 50 pounds, occasionally more (assistance provided for heavier objects).
- Requires walking, bending, twisting, turning, reaching, and lifting while performing job functions.
- Standing for extended periods is required.
- Regular repetitive arm and hand movements are necessary.
- May need to climb stairs and ladders.
Current and continuing right to work in the United States without sponsorship required.
Ideally, you have also demonstrated the following:- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and machine manuals to perform repairs.
- Knowledge of equipment and related test instruments, e.g., voltage testers, power hand tools, torches, welders, and precision measuring instruments.
- Proficiency in using lathe, mill, drill press, welder, and brake.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain certification for Aerial Lift and Fall Protection, Overhead Crane, Lock-Out Tag-Out, Electrical Safety, and Confined Space Entry.
- Ability to troubleshoot and analyze root causes of issues to determine and implement appropriate corrective actions.
- Proficiency in utilizing electronic production systems and maintenance management systems to complete job duties, along with respective technology tools, e.g., personal computer (PC), tablet, keyboard, mouse, RF gun.
