About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Electrical Engineer to join our team as a High Voltage Cable Design Engineer. As a key member of our engineering team, you will be responsible for designing and analyzing high-voltage cable systems, including accessories, link boxes, and fiber optic components.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design complete cable system solutions, including accessories, link boxes, and fiber optic components, for voltage classes 69kV up to 500kV.
  • Develop application notes and test applications to ensure the organization's products meet customer requirements.
  • Represent Southwire as a subject matter expert in studying the electro-mechanical behavior of HV/EHV cable systems.
  • Lead the preparation of specifications, proposals, and licensing documents, and obtain required approvals.
  • Support manufacturing throughout the production cycle, including creating testing plans and solving problems on the manufacturing floor.
  • Act as a principal investigator or lead a group of engineers investigating problems, developing solutions, and preparing related recommendations and reports.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or a related field, plus 10 years of experience, or a special combination of education and experience.
  • Thorough working knowledge of underground power transmission engineering discipline, plus an understanding of related disciplines.
  • Proficiency in requirements of ICEA, AEIC, IEC, and IEEE standards, as well as thermal, mechanical, and electrical field calculations.
  • Strong technical writing ability and solid communication skills.
  • Expertise in software packages, including Cymcap, Comsol Multiphysics, SolidWorks, AutoCAD, Matlab, PSCAD, Pull Planner, and Microsoft Office Suite.
