Job Description

We are seeking an Adjunct Professor of Philosophy to teach courses within the English, Humanities, or Philosophy disciplines at Oklahoma City Community College. The successful candidate will have a Master's Degree with 18 graduate hours in the field of Philosophy or comparable graduate courses.

Responsibilities
  • Provide quality instruction in courses agreed upon by the adjunct faculty member and the dean/coordinator.
  • Participate in the assessment of student learning outcomes for the program and/or department.
  • Respond in a timely fashion to information requests from program, division, and College administrators.
  • Attend department, division, and College meetings as required.
  • Acquire new knowledge and skills as appropriate for the academic discipline.
  • Satisfy objectives for mutually agreed upon special assignments.
  • Support the Division's and College's vision, mission, goals, and priorities.
Requirements
  • Master's Degree with 18 graduate hours in the field of Philosophy or comparable graduate courses.
  • Demonstrated positive human relations and communications skills.
  • Basic computer skills, proficient in the use of Microsoft Office or similar software.
  • Flexible teaching style to accommodate individual learning styles.
  • Committed to helping students achieve their goals to be successful and attain a college education.
  • Support and willingness to teach in a competency-based instructional system.
  • Able to work well as a team member in an instructional unit.
  • Ability to communicate and articulate concepts in an organized manner both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to read and understand content in order to assist students when they are having difficulty interpreting concepts.
  • Ability to interact in an effective and encouraging manner with students individually and in groups.
  • Knowledge of or willingness to learn computerized tutorial programs.
  • Must be punctual and reliable.
  • Knowledge of or willingness to learn computer programs and Learning Management Systems used in the Division and on campus.
  • Organization and attention to detail.
  • Agreeable to meet stated expectations such as being available during office hours and providing means of communication with supervisor(s) and/or the Division office.
Work Environment

This position's essential functions are performed in an indoor classroom or office setting.
