Nurse Manager Job Description

Job Summary:

The Nurse Manager is a key leadership position at the Center for Health Care Services, responsible for overseeing the nursing functions of Crisis Services, Substance Abuse, Behavioral Health, and Primary Care. This role requires a strong nursing background, leadership skills, and the ability to manage multiple priorities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in planning, implementing, and evaluating the delivery of overall nursing care to patients in inpatient and outpatient behavioral health settings.
  • Process bi-weekly nursing payroll and assist the team and providers in delivering patient care.
  • Complete annual evaluations for nursing staff and attend required meetings for the department or position.
  • Develop and implement staffing plans for shifts based on patient acuity, patient census, and available staff.
  • Ensure appropriate orientation of new employees and provide continuous training and development of clinical staff.
  • Oversee the staffing and management of patient care in respective units on a 24-hour basis.
  • Participate in all programs, licensure, and other external audits and prepare Corrective Action Plans (CAPs).
  • Recruit, select, and hire nursing positions and participate in employee mentoring, coaching, and discipline.

Requirements:

  • Two to four years of RN experience demonstrating successful nursing leadership.
  • Current Registered Nurse License to practice in the State of Texas.
  • BSN Bachelor of Science in Nursing or Associates Degree in Nursing with at least 4 years of related work experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • MSN Masters of Science in Nursing or higher earned degree.
  • PHM-BC- Psychiatric-Mental Health Nursing Certification (PMH-BC).
  • CNML - The Certified Nurse Manager and Leader (CNML).
  • Qualified Mental Health Professional (QMHP).
