Job Title: Workers' Compensation Defense Attorney

We are seeking a highly skilled Workers' Compensation Defense Attorney to join our team in Irvine, California. As a key member of our Staff Legal office, you will be responsible for representing our insureds in all phases of Workers' Compensation defense litigation.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Represent clients in Workers' Compensation defense litigation, achieving best outcomes through technical excellence in case handling, trial preparation, and presentation.
  • Drive positive outcomes by applying the law and legal trends, conducting legal analysis and research, preparing legal pleadings and documents, and participating in judicial or administrative hearings and trials.
  • Document case files accurately, capturing and updating relevant information in compliance with best practices.
  • Collaborate with claims adjusters to develop case strategies and escalate issues as necessary.
  • Provide excellent customer service to clients, proactively communicating information and responding to inquiries.
  • Determine and implement alternative dispute resolution techniques, utilizing effective mediation and negotiation skills within authority limits.
  • Maintain professional and technical knowledge by participating in educational opportunities, staying current with industry trends, and establishing personal networks.
  • Contribute to the team effort by accomplishing related results and collaborating on matters as needed.
  • Serve as a technical resource, providing guidance and mentoring lower-level attorneys on legal strategies and use of tools and resources.
  • Ensure legal compliance by following state and federal laws and regulations.
Requirements:
  • Juris Doctor and 7 or more years of experience in Litigation.
  • Member of the Bar in good standing in the jurisdiction(s) where practice is located.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office and Adobe.
  • Knowledge of the insurance industry, claims, and the insurance defense litigation legal environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Workers' Compensation experience.
  • Strong communication and negotiation skills.
  • Experience working in a team-based environment.
  • Strong collaboration skills.
