About the Position

This Research Scientist/Engineer 2 role at the University of Washington offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to ongoing laboratory research projects and collaborate with local and international investigators. Working with new long-read DNA and RNA sequencing technology, you will perform sequencing projects, assist with experimental design, and maintain databases.

Key Responsibilities:
• Collaborate with researchers to design and implement long-read sequencing projects on the Pacific Biosciences Revio platform.
• Work with graduate students and postdoctoral fellows on ongoing research projects, providing technical assistance and guidance as needed.
• Independently perform scientific investigative procedures under limited supervision, adhering to strict deadlines.
• Develop and maintain expertise in long-read sequencing technologies and related methodologies.

Requirements and Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree in Microbiology, Genetics, or closely related Life Sciences field.
• 2 years' experience in a genomics laboratory, with a strong foundation in molecular biology techniques and bioinformatics tools.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.

Salary and Benefits:
Estimated salary range: $80,000 - $100,000 per year. As a UW employee, you will also receive comprehensive benefits, including medical, dental, vision, and retirement plans.
