X-Bow Systems is a cutting-edge aerospace technology company focused on revolutionizing propulsion systems for space exploration and defense applications. We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Chemist to join our team.
Key Responsibilities- Technical Leadership: Provide technical guidance and leadership to a team of junior chemists and scientists in the development of solid rocket motor propellant formulations, hazards abatement, performance optimization, raw materials selection, and characterization.
- Pilot-Scale Plant Support: Collaborate with the pilot-scale plant team to develop and implement efficient and safe processes for the production of propellants.
- Engineering Coordination: Serve as the engineering coordinator for plant and material scale-up, ensuring that all processes and procedures are in compliance with regulatory requirements and company standards.
- Safety and Compliance: Ensure that all activities are conducted in a safe and compliant manner, including the selection, evaluation, handling, storage, and disposal of materials, intermediates, and products.
- Advanced Degree: A Master's or Doctoral degree in Chemistry is required.
- Experience: A minimum of 15-25 years of experience in the energetics arena, with a track record of successes in propellant development and manufacturing.
- Technical Expertise: Intimate knowledge of internal ballistics, mechanical properties evaluation, and the interaction of dynamics in the propellant-liner-insulation interface of solid rocket motors.
- Leadership Skills: Proven leadership and technical acumen, with the ability to coach and mentor junior chemists and scientists.
