Senior Automation and Validation Engineer Lead

Job OverviewWe are seeking an experienced Senior Automation and Validation Engineer Lead to join our team in Emeryville. As a key member of our engineering team, you will be responsible for designing and developing manufacturing control systems, interacting with clients to identify opportunities for continuous improvement, and managing projects as the primary controls resource.
Responsibilities:- Design and Development: Lead the designing and development of manufacturing control systems in support of process operations.
- Client Interaction: Interact with client personnel to identify and analyze continuous improvement through automation upgrades.
- Project Management: Manage or support projects as the primary controls resource.
- Validation and Compliance: Develop validation documents per FDA cGMP and GAMP standards, functional specifications, design specifications, and requirements trace matrices.
- Process Control: Design, program, test, and validate process control automation systems.
- Validation Protocols: Prepare and execute validation protocols (AIQ, IQ, OQ) for 21 CFR Part 11 compliance per FDA requirements.
- Change Control: Manage, document, and implement upgrades through changes control procedures.
- Team Leadership: Manage the activities of on-site project resources; define detailed plans necessary to complete approved projects on schedule and within budget.
- Technical Solutions: Design, develop, and implement technical solutions by establishing integration strategies, configuring, and programming PLCs, DCSs, as well as design, build, install, and integrate automation control system hardware, panels, and field devices.
- Capital Projects: Manage capital projects including but not limited to: control system software development, control system hardware design, network design, MES system implementation, recipe management, user requirement specification development, and process equipment installations.
- Education: A minimum BS Degree in Engineering (Computer Science, Electronics, Electrical, Chemical, etc.) or equivalent with over 5 years' experience in the process industry.
- Experience/Knowledge: Experience/knowledge of selecting, designing, and programming automation control systems. Startup and commissioning of DCS, Batch, PLC, and SCADA systems using distributed I/O.
- Control Systems: Experience in Control Systems (Emerson DeltaV, Allen Bradley, Foxboro, Siemens, Honeywell). Experience with SCADA, MES, and database systems, or computer system validation considered a plus.
- Project Management Skills: Project management skills and experience a plus. Process knowledge a plus.
This role offers a salary of $115,000 - $145,000 per year, depending on qualifications and experience. We offer a comprehensive benefits package, including health insurance, retirement plan, and paid time off.
