The Clinical Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant role is a critical position within our healthcare organization, responsible for delivering advanced professional nursing services in a specialized field of family practice. This includes performing physical assessments and examinations of patients to diagnose health problems and establish treatment regimens according to medical protocol.
Key Responsibilities- Conduct routine and follow-up exams on patients, including medical interviews and assessments to determine their health status or potential health risks.
- Record vital signs and enter information in patient medical records via electronic medical systems.
- Evaluate and interpret results of diagnostic and lab tests to develop treatment plans, including prescribing and administering medication or treatment to patients.
- Provide additional education and information to patients on issues such as family planning, disease prevention, and adolescent health.
- Engage in activities designed to ensure professional development, awareness of developments in the field, and knowledge of relevant practices, rules, laws, policies, and/or guidelines.
- Option A: Active license as a Physician's Assistant by the Alabama Board of Medical Examiners.
- Option B: Licensed as a Registered Nurse in the State of Alabama.
- Certified Nurse Practitioner from a national certifying agency recognized by the Alabama Board of Nursing.
- Master's degree in advanced practice nursing from an accredited program recognized by the Alabama Board of Nursing.
- Basic Life Support Certification.
- Advanced Life Support Certification.
- Experience working in ambulatory care.
- Experience working within specialty healthcare (e.g., cardiology, oncology, urgent care).
- Experience using outpatient electronic medical records (EMR).
Work is performed primarily within medical or healthcare facilities, involving the use of medical tools and equipment necessary for the care and/or diagnosis of healthcare patients. May be exposed to a variety of adverse working conditions, including exposure to bodily fluids and other bio-hazard materials.
