Job Summary:

U Mass Memorial Health is seeking a skilled Histology Technician to join our team. As a Histology Technician, you will be responsible for performing various procedures and tests, including complex ones, in an assigned area. You will follow established protocols and refer to supervisory or lead staff members for assistance when needed.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform routine procedures and quality control, ensuring proper accessioning of human tissue specimens, accurate logging, and preparation for microscopic examination.
  • Prepare human tissue from surgical and diagnostic sources, perform fixation and microscopic examination, and clean, maintain, and calibrate laboratory equipment.
  • Read and interpret histographic displays and properly label specimens.

Requirements:

  • High School diploma and successful completion of an accredited school of Histotechnology.
  • 4 years of experience in histology, with ASCP certification as an HT preferred.
