Job Description

Overview:

Door and Glass Services Company is a specialty construction business that specializes in installing glass and related framing components in buildings. The employee is responsible for sales and fulfillment of the company's services through bidding on new construction work, securing contracts to perform that work, and overseeing the execution of contracted work.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Construction Estimating (85% of job)
    • Analyze blueprints and other documentation to prepare time, cost, materials, and labor estimates in cloud-based estimating software.
    • Inspect or review projects to monitor compliance with wind and energy building codes.
    • Confer with project participants through verbal/phone and written/email communication to resolve details required to formulate a proposal in cloud-based estimating software.
    • Study job specifications to determine appropriate construction methods.
    • Determine labor requirements for dispatching workers to construction sites.
    • Prepare material, labor, and equipment cost estimates for performance of work.
    • Prepare and submit budget estimates, progress reports, and cost tracking reports.
    • Prepare and maintain a directory of suppliers, contractors, and subcontractors.
    • Establish and maintain tendering process and conduct negotiations.
    • Consult with clients, vendors, personnel in other departments, or construction foremen to discuss and formulate estimates and resolve issues.
    • Prepare estimates with cloud-based estimating software used by management for purposes such as planning, organizing, and scheduling work.
  • Performance Evaluation (15% of job)
    • Prepare cost and expenditure statements and other necessary documentation at regular intervals for the duration of the project.
    • Conduct special studies to develop and establish standard hour and related cost data or to effect cost reduction.
    • Develop or implement quality control programs.
    • Evaluate construction methods and determine cost-effectiveness of plans.
