About the Job

We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Substance Abuse Specialist to join our dynamic team at People Encouraging People. As a Certified Addiction Counselor, you will play a vital role in supporting individuals struggling with addiction by providing training in substance abuse prevention and sobriety maintenance.

Your primary responsibilities will include working with individuals with co-occurring mental illness and/or substance abuse in the community and in groups, providing transportation to and from community activities and AA/NA meetings, and developing monthly activity calendars identifying community resources to support sobriety.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Performing drug screens when necessary
  • Completing required documentation, including individual treatment plans and progress notes
  • Organizing and facilitating social and recreational activities for clients
  • Providing case management for assigned clients, including coordinating and monitoring the activities of the individual treatment team
  • Developing and revising overall treatment goals and plans
  • Providing individual supportive counseling and educating and supporting client's families and advocating for client rights and preferences
  • Conducting comprehensive assessments of all domains of a person's life
  • Providing on-call crisis intervention when assigned

Salary Range: $50,000 - $70,000 per year

Certifications Required: CAC Certification or TRAINEE STATUS with Maryland Board of Professional Counselors; Valid MD Driver's License
