Job Summary

This position is located in the Emergency Medical Services Division of the Fire Department with the City of Oklahoma City.

The Mobile Integrated Healthcare Paramedic is responsible for providing enhanced medical services to frequent 911 callers and individuals with non-emergent medical complaints as part of a co-response partnership with a Behavioral Health Navigation Responder.

Responsibilities

  • Performs emergency field patient care, providing basic and advanced medical care procedures in accordance with documented protocols and practices.
  • Provides non-emergency paramedic medical care to patients with non-emergent referrals and medical needs.
  • Conducts in-home welfare checks and assessments for patients with non-emergent referrals.
  • Assists patients with scheduling appointments for medical care and provides transportation to scheduled appointments.
  • Serves as an advocate for patients by assisting them with access to community services.
  • Partners with Oklahoma City Fire Department personnel and Community Health Care Providers and Services to determine patient medical care needs.
  • Coordinates with Mobile Integrated Health team members and partners to facilitate and provide patient follow-up care.

Requirements

  • Minimum of two years' experience as a Licensed Emergency Medical Technician - Paramedic.
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Oklahoma Department of Health Emergency Medical Technician Paramedic Licensure.
  • National Registry Emergency Medical Technician Paramedic Licensure.
  • Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) Certification.
  • Possession of a valid Driver License (Operator).

Working Conditions

  • Primarily subject to standing, walking, talking, or using a telephone for extended periods of time.
  • Possible exposure to various risks, including needles, body fluids, chemicals, and biological hazards.
  • Subject to making life or death decisions during emergency conditions.
  • Possible exposure to grotesque sights and smells associated with traumas.
  • Substantial time spent outside, subject to heat, cold, humidity, rain, etc.
  • Occasionally required to work hours beyond normal working hours and/or weekends.
