We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced tax examination technician to join our team at the Internal Revenue Service. As a tax examination technician, you will play a critical role in resolving complex tax cases and ensuring compliance with tax laws and regulations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Resolve complex tax cases involving interest calculations, tax appeals, and other interest abatement issues.
  • Analyze data and research tax laws and regulations to determine the scope and nature of complex interest calculation issues.
  • Prepare and input adjustments, credit transfers, and other documentation to initiate resolution of tax cases.
  • Collaborate with other teams to resolve complex tax issues and ensure compliance with tax laws and regulations.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • One year of specialized experience in tax examination, including experience with complex interest calculations and tax appeals.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret and apply tax laws and regulations.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with other teams and stakeholders.
