Job Summary

The Pastry Cook is a key member of our culinary team at Hotel Effie Sandestin Autograph Collection. We are seeking a skilled and creative Pastry Cook to join our team and contribute to the success of our hotel's culinary operations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Preparation of Desserts and Pastries: Prepare a wide variety of desserts, pastries, and other sweet goods, following traditional and modern recipes.
  • Menu Development: Create new and exciting desserts to renew our menus and engage the interest of customers.
  • Decorating and Presentation: Decorate pastries using different icings, toppings, and other ingredients to ensure the presentation is beautiful and exciting.
  • Inventory Management: Monitor stocks for baking ingredients and make appropriate orders within budget.
  • Quality Control: Check the quality of materials and condition of equipment and devices used for cooking.
  • Attention to Detail and Creativity: Demonstrate great attention to detail and creativity in preparing and presenting desserts and pastries.
  • Organizational and Leadership Skills: Organize and lead the pastry team to ensure efficient and effective operations.
  • Professional Development: Stay up-to-date with industry trends, nutrition, and sanitation principles, and maintain a willingness to learn and improve skills.
  • Sanitation and Safety: Maintain a clean and sanitary environment, adhering to hotel standards and regulations.
  • Teamwork and Flexibility: Work collaboratively with other team members, and be flexible to meet the needs of the hotel and its guests.
Requirements
  • Education and Experience: High School diploma or equivalent, and/or experience in a hotel or related field.
  • Skills and Qualifications: Proven experience as a Pastry Cook, baker, or relevant role, with a strong understanding of sanitation principles, food preparation, and baking techniques.
  • Physical Demands: Ability to stand during the entire shift, and withstand temperature variations both hot and cold.
  • Work Environment: Medium work, exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 20 pounds of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects.
