Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Medical Assistant to join our team at Charles County Dermatology Associates. As a Medical Assistant in a surgical setting, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional patient care and supporting our medical team.

Key Responsibilities
  • Patient Care
    • Collect patient information and history, taking vital signs and performing screenings as per provider guidelines.
    • Use sterile technique to prepare procedure rooms and surgical trays.
    • Comply with all company policies and procedures in adherence to HIPAA regulations.
    • Obtain patient history and physical, communicating the information back to the surgeon.
    • Describe removal of the lesion, repair options, and postoperative wound care.
    • Answer all patient questions within your scope.
  • Documentation and Record-Keeping
    • Assist with documentation in the Electronic Medical Record (EMR).
    • Record, manage, and update malignant and non-malignant pathology results in a log.
  • Surgical Support
    • Drape and prepare surgical site while maintaining a sterile field.
    • Numb surgical site by injecting local anesthesia.
    • Achieve hemostasis using a handheld cautery device.
    • Bandage patients appropriately based on surgical site.
    • Assist physician during all procedures (passing instruments, blotting, cutting sutures, etc).
  • Postoperative Care
    • Independently see and evaluate postoperative follow-up patients.
    • Additional direct patient care responsibilities available with experience.
    Qualifications
    • High school diploma or equivalent is required.
    • Minimum of one-year work experience in a medical practice preferred.
    • Successful completion of a Medical Assistant program or equivalent hospital program preferred.
    • Willing to train a motivated and hardworking candidate.
    Requirements
    • A college graduate or other individual interested in exploring opportunities in an in-office surgical setting.
    • Have a passion for taking care of people.
    • Ability to be a team player in a fast-paced environment.
    • Must have reliable transportation and a willingness to travel to various surgical centers in Maryland.
