As an EHS Specialist, you will play a critical role in ensuring the site's health, safety, and environmental systems are in place to protect employees and the environment.

Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for managing site health, safety, and environmental systems, focusing on employee H&S and site environmental performance and improvement. Key responsibilities include:

  • Supporting business strategy to ensure all EHS directives, policies, and initiatives are effectively incorporated at site level.
  • Developing, implementing, and executing EHS annual objectives and improvement plans in conjunction with site operations management.
  • Developing strategies for implementation of new or revised policies and regulations in conjunction with site operations management.
  • Assisting in managing environmental permits and program requirements specific to the site.
  • Assisting in the site's ISO-14001 program, including ongoing efforts to maintain the site's ISO certification.
  • Undertaking regular audits and inspections of the site to ensure compliance with corporate policies and EHS regulations.
  • Identifying site EHS training needs and developing resources to support employee training.
  • Assisting in leading and overseeing the site Safety Committee meetings.
  • Supporting site supervisors and managers with the investigation of EHS incidents at the site.
  • Communicating EHS incidents and corrective actions in a timely and effective manner.
  • Partnering with Human Resources to monitor the status of all open Workers Compensation claims.
  • Conducting risk assessments and implementing corrective actions.
  • Assisting in tracking and monitoring site EHS Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
  • Maintaining EHS records to ensure adherence to corporate policies and regulatory requirements.


Requirements

The ideal candidate will have a BS in Occupational Safety and Health or a related field and at least one year of relevant experience, or at least 5 years of relevant experience. Knowledge of Microsoft Office and EHS regulations, including OSHA and EPA, is also required. Professional certification in EHS is preferred.
