Job Description

We are seeking a highly qualified Mathematics Teacher to join our team of dedicated educators. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching mathematics to high school students, developing and implementing curriculum, and assessing student performance. Additionally, the teacher will collaborate with colleagues to design project-based expeditions and participate in ongoing professional development activities.

  • Main Responsibilities: Teach mathematics according to curriculum guidelines, develop and refine a challenging curriculum, maintain ongoing curriculum evaluation and development, collaborate with other faculty members, implement curriculum and instruction consistent with BACPS mission statement, assess student performance continuously and objectively, facilitate positive resolution of problems, and participate in all professional development activities.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's or Master's Degree in mathematics/education from an accredited college or university
  • Excellent knowledge and understanding of the teaching and learning process and expertise in the specific content area
  • Classroom teaching experience
  • Demonstrated experience working with challenge groups in a standards-based environment, including utilizing assessments to place students, flexible pacing, flexible instruction, grouping and regrouping, acceleration, enrichment, and independent study to meet student needs
  • Demonstrated success in effectively solving challenging problems through a positive, collaborative approach
  • Bilingual English/Spanish is desirable
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to work with diverse populations
  • Ability to work collaboratively and effectively with students, parents, administrators, colleagues, community, and other school community staff
  • A strong sense of personal accountability for student achievement.
