Job Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled Controller to join our team at PGLS in Arlington, VA. As a key member of our finance department, you will play a crucial role in managing and optimizing our accounting operations.


Responsibilities
  • Financial Accounting and Tax Management:
    • Oversee and manage all aspects of the company's accounting operations, including Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, and General Ledger activities.
    • Develop and implement financial policies, procedures, and internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure compliance with government regulations.
    • Report on weekly and monthly cash flow activities and establish a regular monthly financial close schedule.
  • Government Contract Compliance:
    • Ensure compliance with government contract requirements, including the Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) and Defense Federal Acquisition Regulation Supplement (DFARS).
    • Review and analyze contract terms and conditions to ensure accurate accounting, financial reporting, and billing by project.
  • Financial Reporting and Analysis:
    • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and reports in accordance with GAAP under a regular reporting schedule.
    • Conduct variance analysis to determine consistency of activity compared to prior months and provide insightful financial analysis to support decision-making and drive business performance.
  • Team Leadership and Development:
    • Manage and lead the accounting team, providing guidance, support, and mentorship to all levels of the department.
    • Foster a collaborative and high-performing work environment, encouraging professional growth and development.

Requirements
  • A minimum of 10-15 years of relevant accounting experience in a senior accounting or finance role, preferably in a government contracts environment.
  • A strong technical background in current accounting standards, demonstrated by a Bachelor's degree in Accounting from an accredited program, and a Master's degree in Accounting (MAcc) is preferred.
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) certification is strongly preferred.
  • Familiarity with government contract cost accounting regulations, including DCAA Incurred Cost Submissions, FAR, and DFARS, as well as experience with GSA contracts and processes.

Estimated Salary:

$150,000 - $180,000 per year, depending on experience.
