- Urgency Evaluation: Assess the urgency and necessity of appointments based on a clinical evaluation of the patient's condition and medical history.
- System Utilization: Access hospital and laboratory systems to apply relevant clinical information for patient care.
- Documentation: Record triage assessments, plans, implementations, evaluations, and follow-ups in the electronic health record (EHR).
- Consultation: Engage with physicians regarding medication adjustments and other patient-related issues that do not necessitate an office visit.
- Patient Interaction: Utilize skills to effectively communicate and deliver results to patients.
- Prescription Management: Follow approved protocols to process patient requests for medication refills as a representative of the provider.
- Task Prioritization: Organize and complete work tasks efficiently and in a timely manner.
- Patient Education: Provide information to patients regarding their health conditions, treatment options, and disease management.
- Conflict Resolution: Strive to minimize conflicts and enhance patient satisfaction through prompt responses to inquiries.
- Medication Administration: Administer medications and perform nursing procedures as per established guidelines.
- Confidentiality: Uphold the confidentiality of patients' personal and medical information.
- Team Collaboration: Collaborate effectively with physicians and other healthcare professionals as necessary.
Qualifications:
- Registered Nurse (RN) or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) degree; on-the-job training in triage is essential.
- A minimum of three years of experience as an RN/LPN; one to two years of telephone triage experience in a medical practice setting is preferred. Gastroenterology experience is a plus, but not mandatory. Current state RN/LPN license is required.
Physical Requirements:
This role involves light to medium physical demands, including the ability to lift/carry up to 10-25 lbs. It requires prolonged standing and sitting, along with repetitive hand and arm movements. Direct patient contact is a component of this position.
