Pediatric Hospitalist Physician

Job Description:MaineGeneral Health is seeking an enthusiastic physician who is board certified or board eligible in pediatrics to join our dynamic Pediatric Hospitalist team. The successful candidate will provide care for newborns, pediatric inpatients, and emergency department consults at our state-of-the-art facility located in Augusta, Maine.
The ideal candidate will be comfortable with neonatal resuscitation, newborn care, and stabilization of critically ill newborns while awaiting transfer to a tertiary care center. They will also have the opportunity to work with a team of experienced pediatric hospitalists and adult hospitalists, providing up-to-date, evidence-based care to our local community and quality education to our medical learners.
Additional Position Details:This is a full-time position with 12 or 24 hour shifts available. The successful candidate will provide care independently each shift with in-house support from OB's, midwives, anesthesia, emergency medicine, and family practice physicians. Pediatric subspecialty/NICU/PICU support is available by phone at the state's two children's hospitals.
The successful candidate will also have the opportunity to teach and mentor medical students and family medicine residents as part of the team on weekdays. The average daily census is 4-6 patients, providing a manageable workload and allowing for quality patient care.
