About the Position

This is a permanent opportunity in Jefferson Parish Civil Service's Engineering - SCADA department. The purpose of this role is to perform maintenance and repair tasks on instrumentation and electrical components for telemetry systems.


Key Responsibilities:
  • Installation, troubleshooting, repairing, and maintenance of Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs) such as SCADA Pack, DirectLogic, Allen Bradley, Tesco, and others
  • Assist in the installation, calibration, troubleshooting, repairing, and maintenance of sensors, transmitters, valves, switches, Flowline, Global Water, Endress Hauser, Milltronics, Met One, Precision Digital, and other equipment
  • Perform tasks related to electrical wiring, network cabling, data cabling, conduit of various types, antennas, antenna cable, antenna masts, solar panels, lightning arrestors, power supplies, uninterruptable power supplies, batteries, surge suppressors, voltage converters, wireless local area networks, and ethernet radio transceivers
  • Enter work orders into the SCADA Division computer generated work order system with detailed information to maintain inventory, employee time record, and maintenance tracking
  • Complete other tasks as directed by management

Requirements:
  • Completion of high school or equivalent certificate, plus substantial experience as an electrician, electrician helper, or apprentice/intern in industrial or commercial electrical construction work
  • Possession of an accredited Associate's degree in a field closely related to Electrical, Industrial, Mechanical, or Computer Engineering
  • Successful completion of college coursework in Electrical, Industrial, Mechanical, or Computer Engineering may substitute for required experience at a rate of one credit hour per month of experience
  • Verifiable completion of an OSHA 10-hour construction industry training course is preferred

Compensation and Benefits:

The estimated annual salary for this position is $37,587.00. Jefferson Parish Civil Service offers a range of benefits, including:
