Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee transportation projects encompassing traffic operations, roadway design, bridge engineering, transportation planning, and environmental assessments.
- Lead the creation of engineering reports, plans, and specifications for various projects.
- Manage the preparation and evaluation of preliminary and final plans, technical specifications, contract documents, and cost estimates, providing recommendations for necessary modifications.
- Participate in contract bidding and administration as required.
- Supervise and monitor project design and progress, coordinating with municipal, state, and county officials as well as external agencies.
- Guide the work of junior engineers and technical support staff assigned to projects.
- Coordinate with clients, contractors, external consultants, and internal staff.
- Engage with project team members, client representatives, review agencies, and others to resolve complex issues, including conflicting design requirements and coordination challenges.
- Possess knowledge of Department of Transportation systems, policies, and procedures.
- Demonstrate familiarity with standard operations, policies, and procedures within the engineering industry.
- Exhibit advanced knowledge of engineering principles, practices, and techniques.
- Utilize standard office practices and procedures, including proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
- Showcase strong attention to detail and exceptional organizational and time management skills.
- Build and maintain excellent interpersonal relationships while working independently on multiple tasks.
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or Civil Engineering Technology
- 5-10 years of experience in the transportation sector is required.
- Professional Engineer (P.E.) certification is mandatory.
- Experience with DOT projects is highly preferred.
- Proven knowledge of software systems such as HCS, SYNCHRO, SIDRA, CORSIM, VISSIM, CUBE, TransCAD, Microstation, and Microsoft Office is essential.
