As an Acute Care Physician Assistant at UTHealth, you will play a crucial role in delivering advanced medical care to pediatric patients with complex health conditions in a specialized hospital environment. You will collaborate closely with a dedicated team in the Heart Center Intensive Care Unit (HCICU), providing essential support to children and their families affected by congenital heart disease.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct comprehensive patient evaluations and assessments to determine appropriate treatment plans.
- Perform advanced medical procedures typically reserved for physicians, ensuring high standards of care.
- Monitor patient progress and adjust treatment protocols as necessary, in consultation with supervising physicians.
- Facilitate patient education on health management, medication adherence, and preventive care.
- Maintain accurate medical records and documentation for review and oversight by attending physicians.
- Respond effectively to emergency situations, ensuring patient safety and care continuity.
Qualifications:
- Current Texas Licensure as a Physician Assistant.
- Certification from the National Commission of Certification of Physician Assistants.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or specialty certification as required.
- Master’s degree in Physician Assistant studies or equivalent experience.
Work Environment:
