Banner - University Medical Center (BUMCP) is in search of a Board Certified/Board Eligible Geriatric Medicine Specialist to deliver inpatient services within its Acute Care for Elders (ACE) unit. The Division of Geriatric Medicine at BUMCP prides itself on a diverse and collaborative environment, partnering with physicians and advanced practice providers. This division serves as a key educational resource for medical students, residents, and geriatrics fellows associated with the University of Arizona College of Medicine - Phoenix.
As the flagship facility of Banner Health, BUMCP is equipped with over 650 licensed patient care beds, a Level 1 trauma center, and a transplant center. Recognized as an Age Friendly Health system and an accredited Geriatric Emergency department, BUMCP is committed to delivering exceptional care to older adults in collaboration with various medical specialties.
The Division of Geriatric Medicine and the Department of Internal Medicine offer pathways for professional development in clinical excellence, health equity, medical education, research, and quality enhancement. They are seeking a Geriatric Medicine Specialist with a keen interest in academic endeavors and a proven track record in managing complex patient cases.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver inpatient care within the Acute Care for Elders (ACE) unit
- Engage in collaborative efforts with orthopedics, trauma surgery, and medical sub-specialties to ensure comprehensive patient management
- Participate in medical education, mentorship, research initiatives, and quality improvement projects
Qualifications:
- Completion of an Internal Medicine or Family Medicine residency followed by a Geriatric Medicine fellowship
- Board certification or eligibility in Geriatric Medicine
- Experience in managing complex patient populations and working effectively in a team setting
- Commitment to promoting a diverse faculty, staff, and student community
Preferred Qualifications:
- Demonstrated achievements as an educator, scholar, clinician, and/or leader
- Experience in palliative care, nursing home, long-term care, or hospice settings
- Proficiency in the Spanish language
- Experience collaborating with advanced practice providers
