Pharmacist - Temporary Staff Position

Job Summary:

Empath Health is seeking a qualified Temporary Staff Pharmacist to support our pharmacy operations.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in pharmacy practice, with experience in compounding, preparing, packaging, dispensing, distribution, monitoring, and control of all drugs.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Reading, screening for interactions, clarifying incomplete, verifying questionable, and making necessary documentation of all physician orders before entering into the computer system.
  • Filling and dispensing prescriptions.
  • Following department procedures for supervising, checking, and initialing technician P.O. and I.V. orders.
  • Preparing IV and TPN solutions.
  • Dispensing controlled substances according to DEA regulations.
  • Providing drug information requested by physicians and Hospice Staff.
  • Meeting Hospice and department requirements for attendance and punctuality.
  • Meeting department dress code.
  • Knowing and following safety and infection control procedures.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree (B.A.) from four-year college or university; or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Licensed as a Pharmacist with the Florida Department of Health, Board of Pharmacy.
  • Meet continuing education requirements as noted by the Florida Department of Health, Board of Pharmacy Division.
  • Valid CPR certification from the American Red Cross or American Heart Association, if immunization certified.
  • Professional interaction skills with medical, nursing, and ancillary staffs.
  • Able to supervise technician and volunteers.
  • Basic computer knowledge.
  • Excellent telephone manners.
  • Supports Hospice philosophy and objectives.
  • Able to lift light loads and has good eye-hand coordination.
  • Sterile product experience.
  • Retail/outpatient/hospital experience.
