Position Summary
The Bartender is responsible for the setup, upkeep, and functioning of the bar area. This role involves taking drink orders from guests or servers and preparing and serving both alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages according to established recipes. The Bartender mixes cocktail ingredients and serves wine, as well as bottled or draft beer. This position also includes ringing up drink orders, processing payments, and providing change. Additional responsibilities may include washing and sanitizing glassware, preparing drink garnishes, and taking food orders for patrons at the bar or for take-out.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintains an excellent attendance record by arriving for scheduled shifts on time, managing shift swaps responsibly, and adhering to company policies regarding time off and illness.
- Adheres to all sanitation and safety protocols set by the company, achieving a score of 90% or higher on sanitation and safety inspections.
- Complies with uniform, appearance, and grooming standards as outlined in the Employee Handbook and Bartender Training Manual.
- Upholds our guest service philosophy by adhering to service standards, maintaining a customer complaint ratio of less than 1 per 100 customers served.
- Possesses thorough knowledge of all menu items, accurately explaining specials to guests and addressing inquiries regarding preparation methods, ingredients, portion sizes, and side items.
- Greets guests promptly within 30 seconds of their seating, taking orders when feasible or informing them of a brief wait.
- Effectively performs menu merchandising by highlighting drink specials and upselling when appropriate.
- Accurately takes beverage and food orders, ensuring a return rate of less than 2% due to order errors.
- Completes guest checks legibly and enters orders into the POS system with 100% accuracy.
- Prepares and serves meals to bar patrons within 20 minutes.
- Conducts check-backs with tables within 2 minutes of serving beverages and meals.
- Accurately totals and presents checks, following payment procedures with precision.
- Completes phone-in or take-out orders accurately and efficiently.
- Performs side-work duties as required.
- Follows end-of-shift checkout procedures with complete accuracy.
- Adheres to alcohol service protocols and government regulations with full compliance.
- Follows standard drink recipes consistently.
- Clears bar items promptly following company procedures.
- Promotes a positive team environment by assisting colleagues with their responsibilities when needed.
Qualifications
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Ability to read and communicate effectively in English.
- Capable of lifting up to 20 pounds repeatedly throughout the shift.
- Ability to stand and move efficiently for the duration of a scheduled shift.
- Reliable and punctual with a strong work ethic.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with team members.
- Demonstrates enthusiasm and commitment to guest satisfaction.
- Accurate and efficient in handling cash and financial transactions.
- Manual dexterity to operate the register system and serve food.
- Must complete food safety training successfully.
- Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
