Job Summary

Collaborates with Value Analysis Teams and Supply Chain to develop work plans, objectives, and goals essential for achieving the established system savings targets. Aids in the identification, selection, and prioritization of system-wide opportunities related to Value Analysis standardization, utilization, and implementation. Facilitates Value Analysis Teams (VAT) to effectively manage system projects. Integrates accepted practice changes and ensures that standards of care are met when standardization opportunities are executed. Engages with vendors and departments to assess new and existing products to guarantee optimized utilization. Responsible for promoting and maintaining quality patient care through effective management of healthcare products, identifying standardization opportunities while adhering to the facility's policies, practices, and standards of care, ultimately leading to improved clinical and financial outcomes. Provides support to Supply Chain Management (SCM) Specialists during VAT trials and product conversions. Assists SCM Buyers with backorder situations and time-sensitive product substitutions. Consistently implements directives from the Manager of Value Analysis to effectively manage the needs of the organization and its affiliates. The position requires demonstrated analytical skills and strong proficiency in personal computing, project management, leadership, problem-solving, and team-building abilities. Excellent oral and written communication skills are essential. Engages with operators within clinical departments for a comprehensive understanding of processes and product usage to support standardization and Value Analysis initiatives.

Minimum Job Qualifications

  • Licensure or other certifications: Must be licensed to practice as an RN in Georgia. Membership in a professional organization is required within one month of hiring.
  • Educational Requirements: Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing.
  • Minimum Experience: At least three years of hospital experience, preferably with perioperative exposure and familiarity with Value Analysis.

  • Proven ability to manage projects and serve as a role model/mentor to colleagues and staff less familiar with Value Analysis and Strategic Sourcing processes.
  • Leadership competencies in change management, team development, and collaboration.
  • Expertise in project management with a solid understanding of standard work processes.
  • Highly skilled in Microsoft Office applications, ERP platforms (preferably Lawson), and systems integration, utilizing these systems for reporting and dashboarding.
  • Knowledge of State and Federal regulatory and accrediting agency standards for safety, quality, and billing compliance concerning hospital supplies and equipment.
  • Familiarity with sourcing/contracting processes, hospital operations, supplier management, team building, and facilitation.
  • Organized and detail-oriented, capable of managing multiple projects and priorities.
  • Demonstrates a strong commitment to teamwork and personal development.
  • Strong project management skills with a focus on team development.

Essential Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Value Analysis: Assist in establishing goals and priorities for teams and monitor progress. Identify cost-saving opportunities based on available data and assist in evaluating potential savings suggested by teams. Collaborate with teams and departments to assess new product requests. Provide regular evaluations of the overall impact of supply cost reduction efforts, including implemented savings and cost trends. Coordinate with the Supply Chain team to optimize operational and capital supply agreements. Work with Risk Management and Infection Prevention to ensure all safety and regulatory issues are addressed prior to product selection. Collaborate with relevant committees to review and update policies and procedures related to product changes. Maintain proactive communication with direct patient care staff and physicians to ensure appropriate feedback is gathered before product decisions are finalized. Conduct utilization reviews of medical products and procedures. Facilitate discussions and reviews of products during Value Analysis Team meetings.
  • Product Back Order Substitution and Discontinuation: Collaborate with Supply Chain staff to identify functionally equivalent products. Educate and inform clinical staff regarding backorder/product changes. Monitor backorder situations and ensure product reversals occur when backorders are resolved.
  • Clinical Product Issues: Act as a liaison for clinical and physician concerns regarding disposable products. Investigate complaints and needs, and assist in finding solutions, including staff education, conversion to alternative products, and follow-up to ensure product efficacy. Ensure product usage enhances the working environment and empowers clinical and physician staff to perform their duties more effectively.
  • Vendor Compliance: Maintain proactive communication with vendors. Educate staff regarding vendor compliance and monitor adherence to system policies using Vendor Compliance software.
  • Standardization / Integration: Assess the need for standardization across the Healthcare System. Collaborate with the Supply Chain team to achieve standardization, ensuring all facilities are considered during the Value Analysis process. Assist in coordinating standardization projects with Clinical and Supply Chain staff to ensure smooth transitions and minimize waste associated with product changes. Promote fiscal responsibility.
  • General Duties: Serve as a clinical consultant to Supply Chain staff when clinical product knowledge is necessary. Collaborate with Logistics and departmental staff to facilitate effective par levels based on clinical insights and process reviews. Demonstrate a willingness to accept additional responsibilities as needed to meet organizational requirements. Engage with operators within clinical departments for a thorough understanding of processes and product usage to support standardization and Value Analysis initiatives. Other duties as assigned by the manager.
