Yard Jockey

Job Summary:

We are seeking a skilled Yard Jockey to join our team at Standard Textile Co., Inc. in Hebron, KY. As a Yard Jockey, you will be responsible for safely moving trailers and containers around the yard and loading docks, ensuring they are properly positioned for loading and unloading.

Responsibilities:

• Safely move trailers and containers around the yard and loading docks, ensuring they are properly positioned for loading and unloading.
• Perform daily inspections of yard tractors and trailers to ensure they are in safe and operational condition.
• Coordinate with warehouse and dock personnel to manage trailer locations and availability.
• Secure trailers by setting the parking brakes, chocking wheels, and ensuring proper placement.
• Maintain a clean and organized yard, ensuring trailers and equipment are stored properly and safely.
• Report any equipment malfunctions, safety concerns, or damage to the supervisor immediately.
• Assist with light maintenance tasks as needed, such as checking fluid levels and ensuring equipment cleanliness.
• Follow all company safety procedures and protocols to maintain a safe work environment.
• Participate in distribution responsibilities as assigned when yard responsibilities have been completed.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Valid CDL A driver's license with certs to pull 53ft trailers and current DOT
• Previous experience as a yard jockey or similar role preferred
• Strong understanding of yard and trailer operations
• Ability to safely operate yard trucks and move trailers in tight spaces
• Knowledge of basic vehicle maintenance and inspection procedures
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills
• Ability to work in various weather conditions and perform physical tasks, such as climbing in and out of trucks
