- Clean and maintain brushes and other tools utilized after every painting job.
- Effectively mix and match various types of paint.
- Demonstrate appropriate usage of paint brushes thinner and other tools and equipment.
- Inspect walls and decide on the number of paint coats required.
- Maintain quality and standards of work.
- Apply paint stain varnish enamel and other finishes to equipment buildings and/or other structures using brushes spray guns or rollers.
- Apply primers or sealers to prepare new surfaces such as bare wood or metal for finish coats.
- Mix and match colors of paint stain or varnish with oil and thinning and drying additives to obtain desired colors and consistencies.
- Fills nail holes joints and cracks in walls with plaster or other filler.
- Covers surfaces with drop cloths or masking tape and removes fixtures such as pictures door knobs lamps and electric switch covers prior to painting.
- Calculate amounts of required materials and estimate costs based on surface measurements and/or work orders.
- Perform all work in accordance with established safety procedures.
- Requisition new painting supplies and equipment.
- Typically requires a high school diploma and 0 to 5 years of experience.
- Performs work under direct supervision.
- Handles basic issues and problems and refers more complex issues to higher-level staff.
- Possesses beginning to working knowledge of subject matter.
- Oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to understand and follow directions.
- Manual dexterity.
- Ability to lift/move heavy objects.
- Physical stamina.
