Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Medical Assistant to join our team at MercyOne North Iowa Medical Center. As a Medical Assistant, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional patient care and supporting our healthcare team.

Key Responsibilities
  • Obtain and document patient data, including chief complaint, allergies, vital signs, and medication reconciliation.
  • Review and document basic health history information.
  • Prepare exam rooms with necessary equipment and supplies.
  • Assist with exams and procedures as requested.
  • Utilize written policies and procedures when performing lab and diagnostic tests.
  • Report and document critical lab and diagnostic test values to providers.
  • Assist with scheduling patients for office appointments and lab/diagnostic tests.
  • Review and document test preparation handouts with patients.
  • Complete charges and obtain diagnosis from providers.
  • Administer medications and treatments with emphasis on patient safety.
Requirements
  • Graduate of an approved medical assisting program.
  • Credentialed as a medical assistant (CMA, RMA, NCMA).
  • Minimum of six months work experience in a healthcare facility performing patient care duties.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • Mandatory Reporting: Child and Dependent Adult Abuse requirement.
