In partnership with a supervising physician, the Nurse Practitioner is responsible for diagnosing and managing various acute and chronic health issues within designated patient populations.
Key Responsibilities
- Collects comprehensive patient histories and conducts thorough assessments through observation, interviews, and physical examinations.
- Orders, performs, and interprets necessary diagnostic tests.
- May conduct preventive health evaluations, screenings, immunizations, and related care.
- Administers direct treatment and oversees the management of health conditions through prescriptive authority or referrals to other healthcare professionals or community resources.
- Educates and counsels patients and their families/caregivers on preventive health measures, treatment alternatives, and available community resources.
- Ensures care is delivered in a manner that respects age and cultural preferences, promoting informed choices and shared decision-making.
- Maintains accurate and timely documentation of patient assessments and care plans.
- May assist with registration tasks, including collecting and entering demographic, insurance, and co-payment information.
- Master's degree or higher in Nursing is required upon hire.
- No prior experience is necessary.
- Must hold a valid RN license as a Registered Nurse eligible to practice in the State of Kentucky upon hire.
- Must possess an APRN license as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse in Kentucky upon hire.
- National certification from one of the following is required upon hire: American Academy of Nurse Practitioners (AANP), American Association of Critical Care Nurses (AACCN), National Certification for the Obstetric, Gynecologic, and Neonatal Nursing Specialties (NCCCOGN), Pediatric Nursing Certification Board (PNCB), American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC), or as a Neonatal Nurse Practitioner from the National Certification Corporation (NCC).
